Poole Lib Dems work with local residents to fight anti-social behaviour

Poole Lib Dems have been working with the police, council officers and local residents to find a solution to the anti-social behaviour caused by a group of individuals who gather on the benches at the end of Madeira Road.

It has been agreed that the damaged benches will be taken away for renovation and while this is being done the situation will be monitored to see what effect it has on anti-social behaviour in the area.

Depending on the outcome, the benches may be put back facing Ashley Road and will be less of a hiding place for this group. In addition, the walls could be lowered to increase visibility.

“Local residents have told us how intimidating they find this group and there are numerous reports of anti-social behaviour nearby”, says Newtown & Heatherlands council candidate Marion Le Poidevin.

“These individuals have many severe problems but they are not getting all the treatment and support they need because of Conservative cuts to the NHS.”
