1.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Mon 1st Jun 2009

Poole Liberal Democrats have chosen local councillor Philip Eades to challenge the Conservatives in the Poole constituency at the next General Election. Phil, 42, runs The Sloop Public House opposite Poole Civic Centre and has been a councillor for Branksome West since 2003. He has two children (Dan 10 and Victoria 8) who were both born in Poole and who attend local schools.

Phil has a strong record of campaigning on behalf of residents of Poole including opposing the introduction of winter car parking charges at Poole's beaches, fighting against the portakabins at Whitecliff and challenging the construction of The Solar Pyramid at Baiter Park

Phil says "I am honoured to be selected by my party to fight the Conservatives to represent residents of Poole in Westminster. Poole needs a full time local MP who understands the town of Poole and local issues."
